Ingredient Notes
- Dark Chocolate Bar (85%): Forms the rich, bittersweet shell that contrasts beautifully with the creamy filling. The high cocoa content gives deep flavor and a firm texture.
- Creamy Natural Peanut Butter: The star of the filling—nutty, smooth, and rich. Its natural oils and texture create a melt-in-your-mouth center.
- Pure Maple Syrup: Adds natural sweetness and enhances the peanut butter’s roasted flavor with subtle caramel notes.
- Coconut Flour: Thickens the filling slightly, giving it a firmer consistency that holds its shape inside the chocolate shell.
- Pinch of Salt (if needed): Balances the sweetness and intensifies both the peanut and chocolate flavors.
- Fancy Sea Salt (for sprinkling): Adds a gourmet, crunchy finish and elevates the flavor contrast in each bite.
Tips for the Best Peanut Butter Cups
- Use Natural Peanut Butter: Smooth, unsweetened peanut butter gives the best creamy texture and balanced flavor.
- Chill in Layers: Let the bottom chocolate layer set before adding the filling and top layer.
- Add a Pinch of Sea Salt: A sprinkle of flaky salt on top enhances the sweet-salty contrast.
- Choose Quality Chocolate: Use dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips or bars that melt smoothly.
- Silicone Liners Work Best: Easy to pop out once chilled—no sticking!
Serving Suggestions
- With Cold Milk: Classic and comforting.
- Chopped Over Ice Cream: Add pieces of peanut butter cups to vanilla or chocolate ice cream.
- Crumbled in Parfaits: Use as a crunchy layer in dessert parfaits or yogurt bowls.
- With Coffee or Espresso: The richness pairs beautifully with a bold brew.
- As Cupcake Toppers: Use mini versions as fun edible decorations.

Peanut Butter Cups
Ingredients
- 1 3.5 ounce 85% dark chocolate bar, dairy free if desired
- ½ cup creamy natural peanut butter
- ½ tbsp pure maple syrup
- ½ tbsp coconut flour
- Fancy sea salt for sprinkling on top
- Add a pinch of salt only if your peanut butter isn’t already salted — just a little boost to balance all the flavors!
Instructions
- Line a mini muffin pan with 9 mini liners. We're making a small batch today, but if you want more treats (and who wouldn't?), just double the recipe to make 18!
- Let’s melt some chocolate! Break up 1.75 ounces of dark chocolate and pop it into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it in 30-second bursts, stirring each time, until smooth and silky. Prefer the stovetop? You can melt it gently in a saucepan over low heat, stirring often.
- Now spoon about 1 heaping teaspoon of melted chocolate into each liner. Use the back of the spoon to spread the chocolate up the sides of each cup. Try to use up all the chocolate—it’s the perfect amount!
- Pop the pan in the freezer for a few minutes so the chocolate can set and harden.
- Next, let’s make that dreamy peanut butter filling. In a bowl, stir together peanut butter, maple syrup, and coconut flour until the mixture is nice and smooth. Scoop about ½ tablespoon of the filling into each chocolate cup—it should come almost to the top.
- Put the pan back in the freezer while you melt the second batch of chocolate, just like you did before.
- Now spoon about 1 teaspoon of melted chocolate over each peanut butter cup, making sure the filling is fully covered. Freeze them again for 5–10 minutes until the tops are set.
- Once they’re nice and firm, you can keep them in the fridge or freezer until snack time.
