HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE CAKE
A homemade two-layer chocolate cake that’s wonderfully moist, paired with a delightful homemade chocolate frosting. The perfect cake recipe for any special occasion!

INGREDIENTS
For the Cake:
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 cups of sugar
- 3/4 cup of cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of oil
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of boiling water
For the Chocolate Frosting:
- 1/2 cup of softened butter
- 1/2 cup of cocoa powder
- 4 cups of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 pinch of salt
- 6-8 tablespoons of milk
INSTRUCTIONS
For the Chocolate Cake:
- Line two 9″ round cake pans with parchment paper and give them a light coating of non-stick spray. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Whisk until you have a smooth batter.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water, mixing until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter equally between the two prepared pans.
- Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then invert them onto cooling racks to cool completely. You can also wrap each cake in plastic wrap and freeze them for later use.
For the Chocolate Frosting:
- In a bowl, combine all the frosting ingredients and beat until you have a smooth mixture. Add enough milk to achieve a spreadable consistency.
