The warming flavors of maple and toasted nuts combine into this Maple Walnut Cake. At the end of a long day, a piece of this cake is the ideal treat!
To make a cake that will leave people asking for another slice, the warming smells and tastes of maple and toasted nuts come together. Uh, believe me! In reality, to keep ourselves from going insane and eating it all in a single night, we had to cut this cake up and freeze it. We took this cake to the houses of friends and neighbors, and it still gets high ratings. It’s yummy!
With the addition of a bit of maple syrup for this cake, I used a traditional American buttercream, but a cream cheese frosting will fit here too. While the ingredients are not the same, thanks to the chopped nuts, this cake reminds me a little of a carrot cake. And carrot cake goes very well frosting with cream cheese.
