Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Set one rack near the top and one near the bottom. Line two big baking sheets with parchment and set them aside.
In a medium bowl, pour in your melted butter. It should feel warm, not hot. Stir in the egg until it blends nicely.
Add the brownie mix and keep stirring until every dry bit disappears and the batter looks smooth.
Scoop the dough into little mounds, about a heaping tablespoon each, and place them on the sheets with plenty of space between them. Usually fit six on a large pan.
If you want to spoil everyone a little, press a few chocolate chips on top and finish with a light pinch of flaky salt.
Slide the pans into the oven and bake for about twelve minutes. Halfway through, switch the pans from top to bottom so they bake evenly.
When the centers look shiny but no longer wet, they are ready.
Let them cool a few minutes, then lift them gently onto a rack to finish cooling.
Bake the rest the same way, and enjoy them warm or after they settle.
