Ingredients
2tablespoons28grams salted butter, diced into 4 pieces
1cup6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips*
1/2cup3 oz bittersweet chocolate chips (or another 1/2 cup semi-sweet if you don't like it quite as rich)
2cups104grams mini marshmallows
1/3cup80ml milk (whole or 2%)
1teaspoonvanilla extract
1 3/4cups415ml heavy whipping cream
16 oz store-bought Oreo pie crust
Topping
1cup235ml heavy cream
2tablespoons25g granulated sugar
Chocolate shavingsto garnish
Instructions
In a large saucepan, combine butter, milk, semi-sweet chocolate chips, bittersweet chocolate chips, and marshmallows.
Heat over low heat, stirring constantly until the chocolate and marshmallows have melted. This process takes time, so keep stirring until everything is smooth.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in vanilla. Pour the mixture into a large mixing bowl and let it cool for about 50 to 60 minutes, until it reaches room temperature.
Whip 1 3/4 cups of heavy cream in a chilled bowl until very stiff peaks form. Fold this whipped cream into the cooled chocolate mixture.
Pour the chocolate mixture into an Oreo crust and spread it into an even layer. If you prefer a shorter pie, you can reserve some of the mousse in chilled cups for later.
Chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
For the topping, whip the remaining 1 cup of cream with sugar in a cold mixing bowl using an electric hand mixer until stiff peaks form.
Spread the whipped cream over the pie and garnish with chocolate. Then, cut the pie into slices and store it in the refrigerator.
Notes
For a milk chocolate flavor instead of the regular dark chocolate flavor, you can use 1 cup of milk chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
To create chocolate shavings, simply run a vegetable peeler down the sides of a chocolate bar.
