Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons 28grams salted butter, diced into 4 pieces
  • 1 cup 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips*
  • 1/2 cup 3 oz bittersweet chocolate chips (or another 1/2 cup semi-sweet if you don't like it quite as rich)
  • 2 cups 104grams mini marshmallows
  • 1/3 cup 80ml milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups 415ml heavy whipping cream
  • 1 6 oz store-bought Oreo pie crust

Topping

  • 1 cup 235ml heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons 25g granulated sugar
  • Chocolate shavings to garnish

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan, combine butter, milk, semi-sweet chocolate chips, bittersweet chocolate chips, and marshmallows.
  • Heat over low heat, stirring constantly until the chocolate and marshmallows have melted. This process takes time, so keep stirring until everything is smooth.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in vanilla. Pour the mixture into a large mixing bowl and let it cool for about 50 to 60 minutes, until it reaches room temperature.
  • Whip 1 3/4 cups of heavy cream in a chilled bowl until very stiff peaks form. Fold this whipped cream into the cooled chocolate mixture.
  • Pour the chocolate mixture into an Oreo crust and spread it into an even layer. If you prefer a shorter pie, you can reserve some of the mousse in chilled cups for later.
  • Chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
  • For the topping, whip the remaining 1 cup of cream with sugar in a cold mixing bowl using an electric hand mixer until stiff peaks form.
  • Spread the whipped cream over the pie and garnish with chocolate. Then, cut the pie into slices and store it in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • For a milk chocolate flavor instead of the regular dark chocolate flavor, you can use 1 cup of milk chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • To create chocolate shavings, simply run a vegetable peeler down the sides of a chocolate bar.
