Ingredients

  • 10 slices brioche and hearty crusty french bread or sourdough*
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup of whole milk
  • 1/4 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 Tbsp of granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • Butter for griddle
  • Warm maple syrup

Instructions

  • Preheat your non-stick electric griddle to 375°F, or use a large non-stick skillet or griddle pan over medium-low heat.
  • Whisk the eggs and cinnamon in a large shallow dish. Add the milk, cream, sugar, and vanilla, and whisk until well combined.
  • Butter the griddle just before placing the bread on it.
  • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides. If you're using brioche, dip quickly; for heartier French bread, let it soak a bit longer.
  • Cook the bread on the griddle for about 3 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown. Flip and cook the other side for another 3 minutes until golden brown.
  • Serve warm with maple syrup.
