Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (5–8 oz. each)
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth optional
  • 4 Tbsp butter divided
  • 4 Tbsp honey
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • Salt and pepper
  • 3 –4 cloves garlic minced
  • Fresh parsley / green onions chopped (optional)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar to create your sweet and savory sauce.
  • Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap or parchment paper, and use a meat mallet to pound them to about 1/2″ thickness for even cooking.
  • Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper, then lightly coat them in flour, shaking off any excess.
  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt 3 tablespoons of butter and sear the chicken for 4–5 minutes on one side until it turns beautifully golden brown.
  • Flip the chicken and cook for another 1–2 minutes on the other side.
  • Lower the heat to medium, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter, and add in the garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until it’s nice and fragrant.
  • Pour in your prepared sauce and let it simmer gently until it thickens and the chicken is fully cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165ºF.
  • Want more sauce? Feel free to splash in some chicken broth to loosen it up and make it extra saucy!
  • Turn the chicken over in the pan to fully coat both sides in that glossy sauce.
  • Plate it up and, if you like, sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley or green onions for a pop of color.
  • Enjoy every bite!

Notes

If you're working with larger pieces, just slice 2 breasts in half lengthwise to make 4 evenly sized cutlets.
  • Make it saucier: Add 1/4 cup of chicken broth to the pan if you want more delicious sauce to spoon over your chicken—or rice!
  • Add some heat: A few dashes of red pepper flakes will give this dish a gentle kick if you love a little spice.
  • Brighten it up: A squeeze of lime or lemon juice right before serving adds a fresh, zesty finish that pairs beautifully with the sweet and savory sauce.
